My favourite little New Zealander put out the call for a Pig Party for his 3rd Birthday on Saturday (No pressure Ethan!) When you are trying to hold a party without a lot of time to organise it is better to try and do a few simple things that bring across the theme without trying to stay up till midnight for the week of the party going over the top and not getting to enjoy your little ones party, for the cake I tried to find one that would look great but not take to much time to put together and I amazingly stumbled across this great website which had a complete easy DIY pig party!!!! Yay, I hope you have a great party Ethan sending big birthday hugs from Far North Queensland!

Here are some pix from Ethan's pig party. I didn't get a pic of the invitations - but I printed a line drawing of a pig, wrote the details on it and Ethan coloured on them with his colouring pencils.

Here's a pic of the items we put in the party favours:

A pig toy with jelly beans - put them inside the pig then tap his back and he'll 'deposit' a jelly bean ready to eat. Also some bubbles, a balloon and a party blower.

We made up some last minute favour bags - plain brown paper bags with a pig picture, coloured in by Ethan, stuck to the front. And a metallic pipe cleaner stuck to the back and curled to make a piggy tail.

My husband baked a chocolate cake the night before the party, and I iced it the morning of the party. In my rush I didn't do a perfect job of the sides of the cake but that was quickly taken care of by taping a piece of black crepe paper around the cake. I crumbled a chocolate flake to make some 'mud', popped in the pig figurines, put the candle on top, then made icing 'grass' using a garlic press. And presented on a glass cake stand.

My DH makes a goooood chocolate cake! Tasted delicious!

To decorate our courtyard we made black and white streamers and hung black white and pink balloons - the pink ones had a pig face drawn on them :0)

Despite the tight time frame to pull together the pig theme, we were happy with what we achieved. The cake especially was a hit, and Ethans friends were very excited about their piggy party favours at the end of the party :0)

You will not believe what I found today to include in the goodie bags for Ethan's guests to take home!!! Too funny! :0)

Thanks Katy!

I printed off a line drawing of a pig today and wrote the party details inside. Ethan coloured them in with his colouring pencils and hand delivered them to his three friends who live in our street. Since the party is only two days away his other guests have been notified by phone :0)

Tomorrow I'm taking the boys on a shopping expedition to get some pink, black and white crepe paper to make streamers for decorating the courtyard where Ethan's afternoon tea pig party will be held. And some balloons for courtyard decorations as well.

Tomorrow night while my husband bakes a cake I'll make the pig noses from the Creative Party Blog. So also on my shopping list tomorrow is pink craft paper, thin elastic, glue, and some pipe cleaners to make pig tails which the kids can have taped to their pants while they wear their piggy noses. hehe

I'll look out for little piggy things I can pop into bags for the kids to take home - a little toy pig, pig stickers and things like bubbles, maybe a pig or farm themed colouring book.
